Hello friends! It’s been a while!
I’m writing to you from my sickbed— okay, actually my couch. I started the New Year off right by getting a cold. I just got someone to cover my bookstore shift tomorrow and made myself some coffee. My dog, Beanie, who turned 4 today (!!! Big girl alert!!!) is snuggled under my leg cave. My other dog, Theodore, is asleep at my feet. It’s cold out— really cold for Austin, Texas— and I’m not looking forward to covering my South Texan body with a million layers and driving to the pharmacy (don’t worry, they have a drive through! I will not be coughing on anyone) to pick up some meds. I’ll put it off a little longer to stay cozy with my dogs and you guys.
2024 Year In Review
If you follow me on instagram, you might have already seen this, but here’s my Year in Review comic. Just like last year it ended up being way longer than I anticipated. God bless editors haha.
The here and now
If you made it to the end of this newsletter— thanks for reading so much all about lil’ old me and my year. Minus the sick part, so far this year’s been off to a pretty good start. I spent New Year’s Eve at home with my partner, our dogs, take out, and some episodes of the Twilight Zone.
I’ve already read a couple of good books— Kristen Arnett’s forthcoming Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One (a banger!!! I adored her first book, Mostly Dead Things— check it out if you’re in the mood for queer Floridian tragicomedy lit fic about taxidermy), along with two comics I really enjoyed— Punk Rock Karaoke by Bianca Xunise and The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t A Guy At All, Volume 1 by Sumiko Arai.
Oh, also it’s my birthday month! I’ve got very goofy co-birthday plans with my friend Morgan. It’s muppet themed! I’ll spill the beans after, promise.
